“With Precizon Go we close the gap between our monofocal and presbyopic cataract lenses. Now we offer doctors a comprehensive portfolio for any cataract challenge. For Monofocal vision, Enhanced Intermediate Vision and Full Range of Vision” according to Úrsula Jaén, PhD, product specialist at Ophtec.
The first Precizon lenses entered the market in 2013. Ten years later the platform has grown into a full family of cataract lenses, suitable for a wide range of patients. The Precizon family is well-known for the ingenious and patented optics. “Yet again, our engineers did another amazing job with Precizon Go”, Úrsula explains. “We managed to add extra intermediate vision without compromising on distance vision. The lens surface itself is beautifully smooth with no rings and offers patients a very high quality of vision. With my background as optometrist and in all my experience in ophthalmology, I’m impressed by the lens design and the patient outcomes.”
Professor Youngsub Eom, MD, PhD, from the Korean University College of Medicine and Ansan Hospital performed one of the first surgeries in the marketing study. “The aspherical profile of the Precizon Go IOL is a stroke of genius. It provides excellent far and intermediate vision without causing dysphotopsia and corrects the corneal positive spherical aberration according to the pupil size”.
Precizon Go received the CE mark in September. Bench studies and the first surgeries in selected hospitals proves Ophtec’s aim for this lens. Precizon Go offers excellent distance vision with extra intermediate vision, ideal for active cataract patients who also want to be less dependent from glasses while working on the computer or controlling their car dashboard.
“What a way to end the year!” says Remko Bos, marketing manager at Ophtec. “2023 was already special to us. We celebrated our 40 year anniversary with a big rebranding. The CE mark for Precizon Go and the amazing outcomes of the study is clearly the icing on our birthday cake”.
Precizon Go is now available in the EU, South-Africa and South-Korea. More countries will be added in the first half of 2024.
